EV Charge Point Grant 2025 — Everything You Need to Know
LEVI grant, workplace charging, and OZEV-approved installers explained
What is the LEVI Grant?
The Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) grant replaced the old OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) in April 2023. It provides funding to support the installation of home charging points for electric vehicles.
Who is Eligible?
The LEVI grant is specifically targeted at those who face the greatest barriers to home charging:
- Renters: Those renting properties
- Flat dwellers: People living in apartments or flats
- Those without off-street parking: Homeowners without driveways
NOT eligible: Homeowners with driveways who already have off-street parking.
How Much is the Grant?
The LEVI grant provides up to £350 off the cost of a home charger. However, this is only available to eligible groups listed above.
What About Homeowners with Driveways?
If you have off-street parking, you are not eligible for the LEVI grant. However, EV charger installation is still relatively affordable:
- Typical installation cost: £700 – £1,200 total
- Charger unit: £300 – £600
- Installation labour: £400 – £600
Workplace Charging Scheme
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is still available and provides:
- Up to £350 per socket
- Maximum of 40 sockets per site
- Available to businesses, charities, and public sector organisations
Smart Charging Requirement
All new home chargers must be "smart" — they must be able to:
- Schedule charging during off-peak hours
- Respond to grid demand signals
- Be controlled via a mobile app
Smart charging helps balance the electricity grid and can reduce your energy costs.
Which Chargers Qualify?
Only OZEV-approved chargers can be installed with grant funding. Approved brands include:
- Ohme
- Zappi
- Wallbox
- Pod Point
- EO Hub
- Andersen
What You Can Claim Per Claim
Each grant claim covers one charging unit. If you move to a new property, you can make a new claim. The grant covers:
- Charger unit cost (up to £350)
- Standard installation
- Any necessary civil works
How to Apply
You cannot apply directly. The process works as follows:
- Contact an OZEV-approved installer (like us)
- We will assess your eligibility
- If eligible, we order and install the charger
- We claim the grant on your behalf
- You pay only the remaining balance
